This Texas Baby: Week 24 Check-In

BABY'S TASK FOR THE WEEK: Keep on growing! I think you are in a huge growth period, as everything I read says the following are developing or continuing to develop:
brain is growing
taste buds continue to delelop
lungs are developing branches
fat!
small capillaries are developing that will help give your skin a pink glow!

SYMPTOMS: Less space in my belly! I think this is the first week where I have really started to feel like there is less space inside me. After eating my normal lunch I feel SUPER full and uncomfortable. I find myself taking more deep breaths. At night time when your daddy tries to curl up with me with his arm over me, I have to move it because I feel like I can not breath. This might all be in my head because I read that my uterus is now about the size of a soccer ball! You hear that, baby? You are living in a soccer ball right now.

Another symptom this week was more movement! But this time your daddy could feel you moving! We were laying in bed one night and daddy was waiting for me to roll over so he could curl up with me, but you were moving around A LOT so I was just laying there on my back taking it in and said "hold on, I'm feeling bun-dumpling move." Daddy put his hand on my belly and I moved it to where you were moving, the lower left of my belly. And he sat there for a few seconds with his hand there and I asked him if he could feel you and he just kind of nodded his head and said yeeeaaah. I think he was really excited and freaked out about it! He did not keep his hand there too long. I also read this week that if daddy puts his ear to my belly he might be able to hear your heartbeat! How cool is that? I will make him try this week and report back about it next week.

(Sidenote: Have I told you that we call you Bun-Dumpling? When we were trying to figure out what to call you at the beginning I sent you daddy a whole list of pet names and Bun was on there as was Dumpling, well he liked both and decided to combine them, do you have been Bun-Dumpling to us ever since!)

CURRENT MOOD: Worry. But nothing about you baby! More like worrying about how I want to decorate your room! You know daddy and I picked out your bedding a while ago, but for some reason this week I have been second guessing myself and keep thinking maybe you would like something with more and brighter colors! We are going to the store tomorrow that has the bedding we picked out for you so I am sure that will remind me why I love that bedding.

THIS WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY FINISHED HOMEWORK: We've registered at Target and are going to hit up Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us tomorrow.

NEXT WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY HOMEWORK: Go buy paint, ok really this time, GO BUY IT! I want to paint all next weekend

This Texas Baby: Week 23 Check-In

Sorry that this post is a little late, baby. Your daddy and I were celebrating our 1st Anniversary!

BABY'S TASK FOR THE WEEK: Keep on develop your sense of hearing. You can feel me moving now, so maybe when I am cleaning the house I should start dancing around while doing it... on second thought maybe I don't want you to pick up my sense of rhythm, it's terrible!

SYMPTOMS: Does steady weight gain count as a symptom? The past two weeks I have gained the EXACT same amount (1.3 pounds), according to WiiFit. I was hoping to keep my gaining below a pound a week, in fact closer to 1/2 a pound a week, but I would say having only gained 5 pounds so far is not that bad. Hopefully, I can keep it up, I am already dreading having to work off baby weight! I did read in one of my emails that your weight should be DOUBLED by the end of the month! That means you should weigh 2 whopping pounds!

CURRENT MOOD: I am starting to phase back into my tired all the time mood from the beginning of the pregnancy and it makes me sad. I feel like there is still so much to do to get ready for you! It also makes me nervous about how I am going to function once I have to go back to work and work 8 hours a day with no naps and still be up during the night with you. I know I will adjust and it will become the norm, but it is the one thing I am very worried about now.

Speaking of having so much still to do, have I mentioned that you daddy has been working out of town A LOT the past few months? I know it has been hard on him, it's like every week when he come home after being gone he has a whole new wife because I keep growing and changing with you! It's also been hard on me, I feel like there is SO MUCH we still need to do for you, all the painting and room decorating and registering for stuff, but after sitting behind a desk all week there is only so much running around your momma can handle before she is tuckered out! And for your daddy, after being gone all week he just wants to relax at home with us, so I feel bad handing him a list of things to do over the weekend that I just can not do during the week. But, as long as your daddy gets all his traveling done now so he can be home with us when you come, you and I will be fine for now while he is gone!

THIS WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY FINISHED HOMEWORK: I think we picked out a paint color! And I think I decided on the pack n play, highchair and swing I want for you.

NEXT WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY HOMEWORK: Register for all of our baby stuff and go buy paint!

This Texas Baby: Week 22 Check-In

BABY'S TASK FOR THE WEEK: Develop that sense of hearing. Your daddy and I both LOVE music, so I hope you develop a love of it too. I'm sure over the next few months you will be hearing a lot of music while you are still in my belly, and daddy occasionally "yelling" at you! He told me the other night, after he lifted the bed covers and yelled goodnight to you in my belly, that he feels like he has to yell for you to hear him!

SYMPTOMS: Movement, movement, movement! It's so crazy, when you move it feels just like a muscle spasm in my stomach. Sometimes it takes me by surprise and I go "oh yeah, that's baby moving!" I also rolled my ankle really good last night, I was just standing in the kitchen and BAM flailing to catch myself on the counter. It hurt pretty good and my ankle is still a little tender. Your momma is a very clumsy person so I am surprised I have not had more incidents like this, since all of my ligaments and joints start loosening up to get ready for you.

FAVORITE FOOD OR CRAVING: I really think I am going to remove this section. I keep waiting for some overwhelming urge for... something. But, nothing yet. That might not be such a bad thing since we live so far from town and a grocery store!

CURRENT MOOD: In one word "nesting". I am trying so hard to get the whole house ready for you. I want to get curtains,  up on all the windows (haha, after living there for a year and a half, now I feel the need to hang curtains?), I want to get the kitchen table area converted into an office space, I want to clean out and organize our bed room and then there is your room!

THIS WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY FINISHED HOMEWORK: Not too much accomplished this week. Actually, I take that back! We picked out your bedding, it is super cute and sweet and I am so excited about it! We also purchased a glider, ottoman, car seat and stroller. Slowly but surely we are getting there.

NEXT WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY HOMEWORK: Decide on paint for your room. Your daddy wants to paint next weekend!

This Texas Baby: Week 21 Check-In

Well this has been quite the eventful week! I had two ultrasounds, found and registered with a daycare and lost a pound (actually 1.3 pounds, but I don't want to get too specific)! The reason I had two ultrasounds is because my first one got canceled and we ended up having to go to the hospital because that was the only day Robert could go this week. The tech at the hospital was not very nice, did not seem sure at all about the sex and would not give us any pictures. So, I went by myself later in the week to our normal ultrasound place and had a very nice exam and got pictures! The tech was still not really able to confirm the sex as baby was sitting on her knees/legs with her legs closed and the umbilical cord between her legs! But from what the tech could tell she did not see any evidence of boy parts. Plus, in her experience boys tend to be, um, proud that they are boys and have no problem showing off whereas girls tend to do what my little baby did. So, for now we are going with girl. Everyone has been saying it's a girl and I think I subconsciously knew it was a girl too.

BABY'S TASK FOR THE WEEK: Keep on growing and moving! I can't wait to really feel you moving, I have had several "oh, what that baby moving?" moments but I want some big ones. I am sure by the end I will be begging you to stop kicking me, but for now I can not wait. You are growing great, baby, they measured you as weighing 15oz this week which is about 3oz more than the average!

SYMPTOMS: My first signs of feet swelling, maybe? I wore real shoes, instead of flip flops and sandals, for the first time in a long time this week and they were a little snug, but maybe they were always snug and I just don't remember.

FAVORITE FOOD OR CRAVING: Peanut butter, your dad and I bought some fudge a few weeks ago and I got three peanut butter flavored ones and it has been a struggle this week to not scarf the whole things down. Hopefully that means you wont have any peanut allergies!

CURRENT MOOD: This week has been an emotional roller coaster for me! Finding out that you were a girl is not what I was expecting. Actually, I take that back, I think subconsciously I have known you were going to be a girl all along but I was hoping for a boy, I always wanted a boy first so that when I did have a girl she would have a big brother to look out for her. But now that I have had a few days for it to all sink in I am starting to get excited that you are going to be a sweet little girl, although I am sure if your daddy has his was you will be a tomboy to the max!

THIS WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY FINISHED HOMEWORK: Found a daycare! Woo, so happy to have that crossed off of our list. I am really excited about the place we found. They are a center dedicated entirely to babies six weeks to 23 months. After looking at other centers and how there were six week old babies in the same room as one year olds made us realize there is a HUGE difference between those two ages. At this center the babies move to a new room every 3 - 4 months, so there is a never a huge age gap between the kids. I think it will be a great place.

NEXT WEEK'S GETTING READY FOR BABY HOMEWORK: Now that we know you're a girl your momma and daddy need to pick out paint, bedding and decorations for your room, the fun stuff!
